Have Faith

Definition of faith in Bible can be found in Hebrews 11:1 – “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see”. This definition is really tough to believe as everyone has hope in everything, but they are confident that every hope does not come true. But faith proves it wrong. 

There are different types of faith. Natural faith is trust in things which have proven stable. We will have faith that the chair we sit will not break since its quality is good. But the faith towards God should not be the natural one. It should be a saving faith (faith toward God combined with true repentance), Sanctifying faith (helps you live a holy life after conversion) and Defensive faith (Spiritual weapon for defensive against Satan). Faith towards God is necessary for salvation. You cannot please God without faith.

“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him” – Hebrews 11:6

How this faith does come to a man? Only way this faith comes to a man is by hearing God’s word. God’s word can be heard through preaching, or by other means. But reading the word personally will help a lot in building the faith in God. “Faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ” – Romans 10:17.

The greatest example of faith we see in God’s word is the faith of Abraham. He had faith that God will give him descendants even when he was old. He heard the word, he believed the word, he turned from his hopeless condition, and he accepted God’s promise as fact. He is considered as the father of faith.

The difference between faith and hope and work is, faith is an attitude of believing in something you cannot see but have assurance you already possess. Faith is what you believe. Work is what you do. Hope is a desire or attitude of expectancy concerning things still in the future.

When you go to the presence of God, you should go in faith. You should believe that he is able to solve all your problems. Faith and work goes together like spirit and soul. Faith should be shown in your work. When you live holy and come in the presence of God in faith, your life will be changed to a blessing to everyone. Faith towards God should be your attitude towards God. It should be one of faith, not of rebellion or fear. Be blessed having faith in God!
