The Lord is Your Confidence
In a world filled with
uncertainty, fear, and instability, people often seek security in wealth,
relationships, careers, or personal achievements. But the book of Proverbs
reminds us that true confidence and security come from God alone. Proverbs 3:26
declares, “The Lord will be your confidence and will keep your foot from
being caught.”
Proverbs 3 is a treasure trove of
wisdom, offering practical guidance for living a life rooted in trust and
reverence for God. In verse 26, we find a powerful promise: the Lord will be
our confidence and protect us from stumbling. In a world filled with uncertainty,
fear, and challenges, this verse reminds us that our security and stability
come from God alone.
Confidence in the Lord, Not in
Ourselves
Many place their confidence in
their own abilities, intelligence, or possessions. However, these can fail.
Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us to “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean
not on your own understanding.” True confidence is not about self-reliance
but about God-reliance.
Goliath
placed his confidence in his strength and weapons. David’s confidence was in the
Lord, saying, “The battle is the Lord’s” (1 Samuel 17:47). Because of his trust in God, David was
victorious.
Where do you place your
confidence? Is it in your own strength, or do you trust in the Lord?
The Lord Keeps Our Foot from
Being Caught
The enemy sets spiritual and
moral traps: temptation, fear, pride, and discouragement. Without God’s
guidance, we can stumble into sin, doubt, and wrong decisions.
Psalm 121:3 – “He will not let
your foot slip—He who watches over you will not slumber.” Proverbs 16:9 – “A
man's heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.” God directs our
steps and keeps us from paths that lead to destruction.
Are you relying on God’s wisdom
and direction, or are you walking into life's traps without His guidance?
Confidence in Christ, Our Firm
Foundation
Hebrews 10:35 – “Do not throw
away your confidence, which has a great reward.” Philippians 1:6 – “He
who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion.” Our
confidence is not in our own goodness but in Christ’s finished work on the
cross.
Imagine two people standing in a
storm—one on shifting sand, the other on solid rock. Those who trust in
themselves will sink; those who trust in Christ will stand firm. Jesus is the
solid foundation (Matthew 7:24-27).
Are you standing on Christ, the
solid rock, or are you building your confidence on things that will fail?
Conclusion
Proverbs 3:26 teaches us that: True
confidence comes from trusting in God, not ourselves. God protects us
from life's traps when we follow His wisdom. Jesus is our solid
foundation—our ultimate source of confidence.
Let us place our full trust in
the Lord this whole month, knowing that He will guide, protect, and strengthen
us in every step we take.
